Eyes of Innocence
Today I looked into the most beautiful blue eyes! The eyes of a precious 5 year old named Nevaeh (heaven spelled backwards). The first time we locked eyes - they tugged at my heart strings... Not because of how cute she was but because of the 'life' she has already experienced. She lives in a house with her mom, her mom's boyfriend, and his son. Their home is very rustic, their neighborhood not safe. She has had an empty cupboard more than full and has 'seen' the very illegal side of life. On her own she mentions in conversation how mean the boyfriend is... and how mean his son is. She has seen more 'life' than my 38 years have experienced.
Her mom is in the midst of a very hard decision...do I take my daughter and unborn baby to a 'safe house' (and make my boyfriend very MAD) or do I go to his friends house until he convinces me to come back to him...
As easy as this decision sounds...she is really struggling.
Her words: If he finds out that I went to a domestic abuse shelter he'll be soooooo mad at me, he would.....
Logically, well there is no logic...
Please pray for this new family that the Lord put in our lives. Please pray for little Nevaeh for her safety, for her to know Jesus.
* As time has passed, more lies have been revealed ... more deception. Steve and I are disheartened. We are trusting that 'God's Word does not return void'. After picking Nevaeh's mom up from a bus stop at 10:30 pm across town, we had a 30 minute drive to take mom and daughter home. Steve and I spent the 30 minutes telling her of God's love for her and how He will take care of her. I also spent time telling sweet Nevaeh about talking to Jesus who would be listening.
